Objectives of the Public Information Sessions

The proponent, as well as federal and provincial government representatives and the Cree Regional Authority, will be present to answer questions and requests for clarification from the public.

The public information sessions are the first of two phases of the public hearings lead by the Federal and Provincial Review Panels. A second phase of the public hearings is scheduled to allow the public to present their views on the project and its impacts and to submit and/or file submissions.

Strateco Resources Inc. is proposing to construct an underground exploration ramp in order to operate a uranium mine located 260 km northeast of Chibougamau. The primary infrastructure consists of a 2405 m ramp at a maximum depth of 300 m. Temporary surface structures will be constructed to support the underground exploration work. This exploration project was launched to identify mineral resources with more precision and to determine the feasibility of a uranium mine.
