The Grand Council of the Crees

The Cree Nation Youth Council commissioned music producer, song-wrtiter, rapper Mr. David Hodges to travel around the Cree communities and host a music workshop during the cold month of March. David and his buddy, Marcus recorded, filmed the entire process of the project. Eventually, each community was able to record 2 songs all which can be viewed online via "youtube". Each community featured artist was filmed.

David was able to record 18 songs and 1 story telling from the tour. These are available on iTunes!!! The album is called "N'we Jinan Eeyou Istchee".

N'we Jinan meaning "Our home".  Since it dropped on iTunes on May 27, it  has reached #1 on the hip-hop category and number 8 overall in Canada! This success of this album under the aboriginal sector is unheard of! We are absolutely amazed of this achievement. I am super proud of our youth!

All proceeds of the sales of this album will go towards art based programs under the Cree Nation Youth Council.

I urge you to download the album from iTunes and support this initiative.

I am beyond amazed of this success!
